About the Farmer

My name is Hussein Al Hamka, I have been a farmer for over 50 years. I started farming with my father at a young age. I have been farming in Arizona for over 13 years, I started farming in Arizona with the assistance of International Rescue Committee, and I have worked with and assisted farmers from International Rescue Committee for 10 years. With the help of my wife, Shreen, and children, I am able to manage the business side of farming. We provide fresh, naturally grown local fruits and vegetables. We make our produce available by being vendors at markets like Downtown PHX Farmers Market, Spaces of Opportunity Farmers' Market, Uptown Farmers' Market, and GCS Farmers Market. We also make it available and are supported by local organizations such as Tiger Mountain Foundation, St. Mary's Food Bank, Arizona Community Hub, Local First Arizona, Sun Produce Cooperative, PHX Food Co-Op, and Food Not Bombs Donations. We are interested in expanding more locally.

I hope to inspire families in our communities to start their own farming  and grow food in Arizona, and I do my best in guiding people who are interested in learning more about farming and growing food. Thank you.
